In order to encourage the use of renewable energy in Malaysia, the Net Energy Metering Scheme (NEM) was first introduced by the government with a quota of 500 MW allocated up to the year 2020.
This year, the government released NEM 3.0 to continue this initiative with an increased capacity of 800MW, to give users enough quota to use. NEM 3.0 is divided to three categories as per follows:
